Hospital-level hospice care, started fast. Families and referring teams reach us on one line, any hour.
WHEN GIP FITS
Some patients need hospice at hospital level, and some decisions can't wait for a slow hospice. This is the service built for both.
SIGNS:

A Standing Methodist GIP Contract
In place for years, one of a small number in San Antonio. No one-time contract scramble.
30-Minute Response
On every referral and every family call, nights and weekends included.
Same-Day Starts
Admission completes when clinicals and consents are ready.
Our physicians and nurses coordinate directly with theirs, every shift.
Chaplain, social worker, plain-word updates, and a person answering at 2 AM.
Patients who stabilize move home or back to their community with hospice continuing.

LOGISTICS
Referrals reach us three ways: CarePort, fax, or the referral line, and every one gets a response within thirty minutes, any hour of any night.
AIP has held a standing GIP contract with the Methodist Hospital System for years, and keeps credentialed physicians writing orders in-system. Care begins when your patient needs it, not when the paperwork allows.
On the floor, it's one plan. Our team coordinates with the hospitalists and nurses directly, the family hears one clear voice, and nobody translates between teams.
For the family, whether you called us or your case manager did, it looks the same: familiar AIP faces at the bedside, a chaplain in English or Spanish, someone explaining what's happening in plain words, and support that continues for the year after.
When patients stabilize, we help them transition home or back to their community with hospice continuing seamlessly, and the hospital team gets the update. It stays clean in both directions.

COMMON QUESTIONS FROM REFERRING TEAMS
Straight answers for the people who send patients. For anything else, the referral line answers any hour.
AIP responds to every referral within 30 minutes, any hour of any night. Admission completes the same day when clinicals and consents are ready, and the first visit happens within one hour of signed consent.
Referrals reach AIP through CarePort, by fax, or on the referral line. Send recent clinicals, a medication list, and the family's point of contact; AIP handles benefits verification, consents, and physician orders from there.
Yes. AIP holds a standing GIP contract with the Methodist Hospital System, with credentialed physicians writing orders in-system, so inpatient-level hospice can begin without a contract scramble.
Yes. AIP is one of a small number of VA-contracted hospices in San Antonio, and also holds contracts with VA-contracted nursing homes in the area.
AIP says so, plainly. If a patient isn't yet hospice-appropriate, we'll tell you and the family what we're seeing, and when home health is the better fit for now, we'll say that too.
START WITH A CALL
Call whenever you're ready, tonight included. Ask anything, and you'll talk to a person who knows hospice inside and out. By the time you hang up, you'll know your next step.
